Once upon a time there was another journal.

Now there is this.

In between there was love, death, loss, yearning, angst, joy, foolishness, laughter, blades, cross dressing, tears, plum-coloured lipstick, sanity, lack thereof, sex, cookies, violence, choices, (fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles) … and far too many words.

And here I am.

I am … whimsical, passionate, frivolous and all the other things that people are.

I have blown up a science laboratory, published pornography, worked for Starbucks, got a degree from Oxford and done all those other things that people do.

I have never managed to like the taste of coffee.



I piss off my friends a lot but they usually forgive me.

I have achieved nothing of any real note but I seem to have learned to be happy.


The name, in case curiosity strikes, is from Joyce's Ulysses:

--Mrkgnao! the cat cried.

They call them stupid. They understand what we say better than we understand them. She understands all she wants to. Vindictive too. Cruel. Her nature. Curious mice never squeal. Seem to like it. Wonder what I look like to her. Height of a tower? No, she can jump me.

--Mrkrgnao! the cat said loudly.

She blinked up out of her avid shameclosing eyes, mewing plaintively and long, showing him her milkwhite teeth. He watched the dark eyeslits narrowing with greed till her eyes were green stones. Then he went to the dresser, took the jug Hanlon's milkman had just filled for him, poured warmbubbled milk on a saucer and set it slowly on the floor.

I rather like being a sound, instead of a word.
